Who We Are
Established in 1987, Body Positive, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) community service organization dedicated to providing a self-help model of HIV/AIDS education, information, and support. As the first community-based organization dedicated to assisting newly-diagnosed individuals and their lovers, partners, caregivers, families, and friends, our services are provided through an extensive network of professionally supervised peer educators and volunteers who are reflective of the communities affected by HIV. Though our office is located in Manhattan, we assist people throughout the New York City metropolitan area by delivering community-based services, often in collaboration with other neighborhood-based agencies.
Who We Serve
Body Positive serves all people affected by HIV. While the majority of the people we serve are HIV- positive and mostly asymptomatic, we provide services for people at any stage of HIV/AIDS. Many of the people we serve are the partners, spouses and friends of HIV positive people. People are referred to us by a variety of social service agencies, hospitals, anonymous testing sites and private physicians.
